READING COUNTS PROGRAM

The Reading Counts is a reading motivation and management program that helps encourage and monitor independent reading.

Here's how it works:
Students select books from a database of over 23,000 titles from a wide variety of publishers. Students read the books at their own pace. Students take short quizzes on the computer to verify comprehension.
Reading Counts offers these benefits:
SIMPLIFIES TEACHING. Automatically-generated quiz results and reports help teachers monitor every student's performance throughout the year.
MOTIVATES READERS. Students (K-12) can be matched with appropriate literature, given reading goals, and acknowledged for their achievement in creative ways.
PROVIDES FLEXIBILITY. Reading Counts can be used in any classroom or school library. Students read what they like.
MOTIVATIONAL TOOLS. Students can earn points based on the length and complexity of each book they read. Points and scores are then used for prizes. The more points a student has the more prizes he/she earns. We then have a Reading Counts Awards assembly where the students receive their awards in front of the entire school.
